That RSS Reader Thing

A few of you have asked me about my RSS feed and if it is broken. The simple answer is that it isn’t.

Basically, anyone who uses Google Chrome out of the box will need to run an rss parser/reader. Natively, Chrome displays just the xml feed. Chrome’s approach is to have you download the RSS viewer of your choice.

My recommendation is to use Google Reader – which I would put in the top five apps I use every day. If you want to use the extension, here it is. Otherwise, copy the URL and drop it into Google Reader’s subscribe button.

Purpose Driven Brands Will Always Win

This fact struck home to me when reading Aaker’s latest missive on Coke:

Under CMO Joe Tripodi, who actually arrived just before Kent became CEO, the marketing group has a lot of new faces, a clear vision for its brands (for example, Coke is about universal refreshment and moments of happiness), and innovation throughout. Coca-Cola was named marketer of the year in 2011 with a litany of visible successful programs including becoming the leading brand in social media with over 42 million Facebook “Likes.”
